Repeating Tentacle pattern linocut

I’m embarking on a new linocut. I built a repeating pattern from images I found online and I intend to put it in a repeat pattern on bandanas for sale.

It’s writhing tentacles and a monstrous eye in the center. I intend it to print as the image shows: black with white lines.  It measures 6″ x 9″

Finished my work on this one

finally. There were SOOOOOOO many tentacles and suckers. I learned a few lessons for future busy patterns. For one thing, I’ll trace it with carbon paper rather than do my normal trick of adhering the image with Mod Podge and rubbing away the paper to reveal the ink image.
The carving was so intricate and fine that I actually started lifting up image.

I didn’t make the eye exactly as I wanted it but after some minor repairs, it’s about as close as I can get it. I’m living via something another printer said “learn to live with your mistakes and then do better next time”.

Second test print after enhancing the lines and trying to fix the eyeball. I like how it looks unless you stare too closely at the eye. It makes a nice image overall.

close up of the eyeball after some repairs. It's not perfect but I can't do much more with it without starting over. Live and learn.
